This can be an excellent time to fish for bonefish because the summer months offer consistent weather (provided that the flats do not heat up to a point when bonefish remain in deep water). The flats should be far less crowded as the "snow birds" return to their northern homes (thus, the bones have not been worked over for some time).
The summer of '96, especially July, should be excellent because the weather earlier in the year was unusually cool.
There are lots of excellent fishing resorts today including Cargill Creek Lodge and Andros Island Bonefish Club on Andros, Peace and Plenty and Bonefish Lodge on Exuma, Deep Water Cay Club (East End) and the new North Riding Point on Grand Bahama. Early morning and late afternoon fishing are the best times, and besides, you might want to cool it around noon anyway. Take lots of sun block with you, and make sure you have plenty of drinking water while on the flats.
