maifliege_2009_08.serendipitythumb.jpgThe Maifliegenzeit is for many the highlight of the Brandenburg fly fishing for trout season. During this period, probably the most and the largest trout caught. Moreover, in this short period, access to many trout streams still possible, while greatly hindered during the summer months, the Verkrautung of many river sections in successful fishing.

Last winter, with a long ice cover of standing water and most of the slow-flowing streams dampened my anticipation for the experiences of the last ice winter 2005/2006 were not yet forgotten. The only ice-free waters were last winter for a long period, the small natural and semi-natural streams, some of which are managed by the Salmonid LAVB.

Who does not remember the Ukrainian nuclear power plant meltdown in Chernobyl in 1986. That a very catchability fly was named after that we owe to an unknown American prankster who caught this big trout fly patterns in the Rocky Mountains. As Hopper and stone fly patterns this fly is very popular in her homeland but she also begins with us their fish. Unfortunately, she is ridiculed by many European fly fishermen rather disparaging. A fly would probably consist of hair and feathers, at the most complained with his brass or tungsten. A fly only to bind plastic to find in the more traditional fly fishermen set little enthusiasm. Thus, it is not available in any of the German I know Flyshops.

Mandalelv - Salmon Fishing in Norway I

Salmon anglers are optimistic people. The opportunity as a tailor (... is an angler of any fish caught) has come home to be larger in almost any other angling. The moments of triumph are rare, and then count all the more.

On Saturday the fun begins at last! After a voluntary break in the last year, it is for me now for the 6x on the Mandalelv to southern Norway. A handy river that provides very good opportunities to get a salmon to the fly. Certainly more will be on Mandalelva grilse caught and the fishing pressure is high. Still, I love this river, with its generous range division, the well-read our rental pool and the friendly place to stay right on the River. At almost every pool I can now tell a story and lots of fish I've seen dangling on the gravel.

Mandalelv - Salmon Fishing in Norway II

Certainly you waiting impatiently for a few lines about our 36th Mandalwoche. Unfortunately, there is little to report, since only 2 salmon were caught by fly fishermen high as 10 in our group. The conditions were anything but good. A lot of water from the bottom and a lot of water from above. Much water in Mandalselv was 120 square meters / sec and a minimum of 235 sqm / s in maximum. Normal is 75 square meters / s. Many pools could hardly beangeln salmon and marched straight into the upper reaches to their spawning grounds. Only rarely was a salmon on the surface. Experienced local salmon anglers and catch statistics of the previous weeks reported a very slight rise in the Mandal salmon this year. Strong variations in the ascent will be repeatedly observed in all salmon rivers. Here are some examples: Gaula: 2000/14 5 tons, 2005/28, 1 ton Orkla: t 2003/32, 2004/17, 7 t Mandal: 2006/12, 2 t, 2009 / 5.2 t
